I just ran into the governor, here are the pictures. I asked him how to address him respectfully, and he told me “Honorable Governor”. So I said “Honorable Governor, is the St Maarten government about to fall? “The rumours are rampant”. He answer “No Comment, I don’t know anything about that”. I said, “Okay, Is Roland Duncan’s business interests a conflict of interest? He said “I can’t answer that”. I thanked him, and he took off.
My question is…..
What’s so disrespectful about that. I met him on a public street and asked him two questions. Some people are upset.
I have the right as a citizen, to ask a PUBLIC FIGURE, a government related question, on a public street. He exercised his rights to pose for the pictures, and NOT answer the questions. ]
I’m NOT VIOLATING THE GOVERNOR, BY ASKING HIM A QUESTION! St Maarteners are being voilated, when there are SECRET meetings in Parliament, St Maarteners are violated when our representatives such as Romeo Pantophlet and Frans Richardson flee the country rather than answering basic questions about the filling of the salt pond, and the Tempo Turns Bankrupt Promotions.
If you don’t have the guts to question those in power, then don’t complain.
I know so many people who loathe the government, and hate what they are doing. They will complain about them behind the scenes, then GRIN in their faces.
I’m not like that. This is a democracy, we have a right to ask our representatives questions, and they SHOULD answer, when possible.
btw…..there are rampant rumours that the government IS about to fall, at least before the end of the year, Sarah just threw William under the bus. 🙂
